We are developing a novel immune tolerizing therapy for patients suffering from celiac disease as well as a proprietary, serology-based diagnostic to more easily and accurately confirm a celiac disease diagnosis.

  • Controller
    Open or Close

    Position Summary:

    The primary responsibilities of this role are to produce timely and accurate financial reports, maintain an adequate system of accounting records, develop and manage annual budgets and long term financial forecasts, enhance the accuracy of the Company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

    This position will be responsible for directing and supervising the complete accounting system and financial function of the Company. This includes billing, A/R, cash receipts, collections, A/P, payroll, general ledger, forecasting, budgeting, internal controls and audits.

    Overall, this role encompasses the ability to:

    • > Execute and deliver all aspects of financial reporting, including monthly financial statements, annual and quarterly reporting and budgets. 
    • > Review the monthly financial statements and other required reports.  Quickly identify unusual or unexpected items and have the ability to research such items until satisfactorily resolved.


    Essential Functions and Responsibilities include:

    • > Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
    • > Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives.
    • > Issue timely, accurate and complete financial statements.
    • > Manage the production of the annual budget and long-term forecasts.
    • > Build and maintain appropriate internal controls.
    • > Assist in formulating the Company’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
    • > Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans.  Develop financial and tax strategies.   
    • > Develop performance measures that support the Company’s strategic direction.
    • > Develop benefit programs, including; health, life, dental, long term disability, supplement insurances and the 401(k) Plan.  Ensure compliance with ERISA and other applicable benefit related regulations.
    • > Manage payroll process including but not limited to reviewing payroll reports for accuracy and compliance with applicable state and federal law.
    • > Maintain all HR policies, procedures and employee handbook in a current manner.  Aids in development and revision of plans and polices related to Human Resources.  Explain and answers questions about employment policies and requirements included in employee handbook and administrative policies and procedures.
    • > Build strong, open and collaborative working relationships characterized by mutual respect with superiors, peers and subordinates within and outside the company.
    • > Any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned.


    Qualifications:

    Driven, self-motivated, efficient and productive in their work habits, and able to take directions in the form of concepts and covert such concepts into actionable items.  This role must also be well organized and able to keep multiple projects moving simultaneously.  Must plan appropriately for deadlines.

    Education/Experience:

    Education:  A four year college degree in accounting, finance or business
    Experience:  10+ years business experience.  Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.  Preference will be given to individuals with previous experience as an accounting manager or controller in a biotech company.

    Other Required Skills:

    • > Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including GAAP.
    • > Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
    • > Must possess the ability to study complex issues, conceptualize and analyze various information.
    • > Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
    • > Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
    • > Must work with confidential information of a sensitive nature and assure it is safeguarded to protect the integrity of the company.
    • > Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting.
    • > Ability to motivate the finance team to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
  • Director of Clinical Operations

    Position Summary:

    The Director of Clinical Operations is responsible for the development and management of the clinical operations function in support of the company product development and overall business objectives. This individual is a subject-matter expert with a proved track-record in successful clinical operations management and execution.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • > Work closely with the CMO/VP of Clinical Operations to formulate operational strategies aligned to corporate goals
    • > Manage clinical operations staff to execute on the planned clinical studies
    • > Train and monitor departmental compliance with SOPs and GCP/ICH guidelines
    • > Initiate new tools, procedures and processes to improve efficiency, review systems for efficiencies and compliance with regulations
    • > Oversee budgets, forecasts and timelines for all clinical activities
    • > Qualify and select external vendors/consultants as required to meet clinical operations goals, and manage vendor performance
    • > Identification of investigators in a given therapeutic area to serve as clinical study sites or clinical advisors, as appropriate
    • > Maintain effective relationships with vendors, consultants, investigators, and other external clinical study stakeholders
    • > Establish, track, and report on appropriate performance metrics; employ analytics to assist in effectively presenting clinical study progress and performance, and to help make ongoing decisions as the need arises
    • > Work with internal and external stakeholders in the development and review of clinical documents such as protocols, informed consents, investigator brochures, monitoring plans, study reports and annual reports
    • > Oversee the generation, analysis and presentation of clinical data including manuscripts, abstracts and oral presentations
    • > Attend and participate in leadership and cross-functional meetings to drive clinical trial execution
    • > Communicate in a timely and effective manner with senior management and others on clinical program status and activities
    • > Strategically prepare for and participate in regulatory agency interactions and planning, as well as business development partner activities as required


    Qualifications:

    Education/Experience: The ideal candidate will offer:

    • > Bachelor’s degree in life sciences required. Advanced degree/ clinical research certification/project management certification desirable.
    • > Minimum of 15 years clinical operations experience in the biotech or pharma industry
    • > Demonstrated ability to successfully develop, implement and complete multiple clinical studies and/or programs; experience in managing complex trials or global multi-center trials is preferred
    • > Clinical operations budget and vendor management experience required


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • > Read, write and speak fluent English; excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • > Must have a thorough knowledge of clinical research concepts, practices, and FDA regulations and ICH Guidelines regarding drug development phases, clinical research and data management methods.

  • Program Manager

    Position Summary:

    The Program Manager is responsible for the management of one or more product development programs and will play a key role in the development strategy and operational advancement of the ImmusanT program(s).

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following:

    • > Collaborate closely with cross-functional team members, senior management and external partners to develop and maintain integrated program plans, budgets and timelines in alignment with company goals and objectives
    • > Conduct risk management and scenario planning, driving the development of contingency and/or risk mitigation plans
    • > Develop tools and mechanisms for monitoring program progress and the identification and timely resolution of program issues – including those related to timing, resources and funding, to prevent delays in program milestones
    • > Interact with functional leaders and their teams to integrate functional timelines into a unified program timeline, identify and resolve crucial bottlenecks within and across programs
    • > Track progress against program plan, generate regular status updates, and communicate progress and issues to management
    • > Work with functional leaders to create development strategies, plan publications on company research and develop Target Product Profiles
    • > Identify and execute on process improvement initiatives
    • > Prepare and coordinate presentations to key stakeholders; including Advisory Boards and the Board of Directors
    • > Coordinate activities with external business partners and alliances, where applicable; contributing to partnership deliverables

  • Chief Financial Officer

    Position Summary:

    The ideal candidate is a CFO with experience in the life sciences industry, preferably in therapeutics, who has taken a venture-backed company public. The candidate will have recent biotech sector experience and have been the right hand to the CEO with a strong base in financial leadership and demonstrated success with strategic planning, designing and executing a financing strategy to support the company’s growth (IPO experience preferred), developing and maintaining strong relations with Board members and investors and transacting with strategic partners.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • > Integral member of the executive management team, the CFO will be expected to contribute strongly to strategic and operational decision making, with high quality financial advice, experience and analysis.
    • > Act as a partner to the CEO and leadership team – appropriately debate and evaluate business and corporate development and financings strategies (including equity, debt and other non-dilutive funding)
    • > Be central to evaluating, organizing and implementing major transaction including: M&A/IPO/other financings, working with the executive leadership team, Board, advisors/banks, IR and PR firms, current and new investors.
    • > Investor and external relations – build relationships with and give presentations to analysts, investors and other audiences of relevance, working appropriately with the executive team and with advisers – act as a credible and effective representative of the company.
    • > Bring thorough understanding of the US capital markets, and ensure US legal and regulatory compliance compliance (as relevant for private and public companies) and acting as lead liaison with legal advisers and external resources for corporate legal matters.
    • > Bring rounded commercial financial acumen to help the company to accurately build business cases, interpret performance and anticipate the impact of decisions, ensuring that financial input to business decisions is of the highest quality and provided on a timely basis.
    • > Ensure that the company identifies business issues before they escalate and assist the leadership team to timely interpret business performance and make financially informed business decisions.
    • > Contribute at Board level to the evaluation of options for the business, helping maintain a healthy and sustainable balance between the world class scientific roots and foundations of the business, and the commercial opportunities ahead.
    • > Build and maintain a small finance and accounting staff to provide timely, accurate financial records and ensure an appropriate internal control structure is maintained and documented.


    Candidate Profile:

    • > Experience building and leading the finance organization in a biotech company that is based on high quality science and technology.
    • > US public markets experience, including a track record of raising capital, familiarity with and understanding of public company accounting and reporting requirements (US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley) and experience of successfully taking a company through a US listing ideally within the last 3 years
    • > Evidence of a network with the relevant US investor community and advisors
    • > Knowledge of the US tax rules
    • > 10-15 years experience in financial leadership roles including in small-to-medium enterprises
    • > Demonstrated proactive initiative taking and leadership qualities and have operated at Board level
    • > Demonstrable strategic and commercial acumen, underpinned by robust financial, planning and analysis skills
    • > Driven, energetic, with strong interpersonal skills, communication ability and powers of persuasion
    • > Highest ethical standards, command respect and be credible at all levels, helping to impart those standards across the organization
    • > A track record of successfully contributing to commercial licensing and M&A transactions would be useful
